We, the students of the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (NUJS), Kolkata, express our profound support and solidarity with the students of Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL), Patiala, in their protest against the actions of their Vice Chancellor.
The incidents that have transpired are deeply troubling, not only due to the specific misconduct alleged but also because of their broader implications for the safety, dignity, and rights of all students within an academic setting.
As future legal professionals, we emphasize that educational institutions, especially law universities, must uphold the highest standards of decency, respect, and moral responsibility. The power entrusted to leaders in these institutions comes with a solemn obligation to maintain ethical standards and safeguard the rights of every student.
The recent misconduct at RGNUL represents a grave breach of trust that undermines these principles, particularly affecting vulnerable individuals within the community. Basic decency, respect for privacy, and the right to personal safety are not privileges but fundamental rights that every student is entitled to.
We stand firmly with the students of RGNUL in their demand for accountability and a commitment to an environment where all individuals can learn and thrive without fear.
In solidarity,
The Students of NUJS, Kolkata.
