In a significant achievement in the arena of mooting, the university team consisting of Ankit Pal from the Class of 2022, Arjun Singh Rana from the Class of 2022, Anamika Kundu from the Class of 2021 and Soumya Gupta from the Class of 2023 has emerged as the semi-finalist of the Asia-Pacific rounds in the Manfred Lachs Space Law Moot Court Competiton 2019 conducted in Amity Law School, Noida between the 28th to the 31st of March, 2019. The Manfred Lachs Space Law Moot Court Competiton was established by the International Institute of Space Law (IISL) in the year 1992. The competition is conducted through through five regional rounds- North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia Pacific and Africa- around the world and the winners of each of these rounds qualify for the global rounds. The aim of the competition is to provide the participants with an unparalleled learning experience at all levels in a fair and cordial environment. The Manfred Lachs Space Law Moot Court competition is particularly distinguished by the tradition of judges of the International Court of Justice presiding over and judging the World Final. When asked about the journey undertaken and the experience the team went through preparing for the moot court competition, the team responded with a statement that "A moot is like a mountain which gets bigger the closer you get to it. Manfred Lachs was always a difficult mission to plan . More than the result, I think we are proud of the process and how we worked as a cohesive team. To have a fantastic team dynamic where mutual respect is an unsaid element is not a very common thing. The experience, the process and the result would not have been the same without Maathangi standing with us all throughout. To sum it up, it was really 'out of the world!'" In addition to the team's successful run, Arjun Singh Rana from the Class of 2022 was judged as the 10th best speaker of the tournament. We congratulate the team on their brilliant performance and wish them the very best and also thank Matthangi Hariharan from the Class of 2019 for her mentoring and assistance to the team.
